The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recognized VSU as center of excellence, and development in three programs, May 17, at the CHEd auditorium in Manila.

Following the evaluations conducted by CHED last year, VSU has been designated as center of excellence (COE) in Agriculture, and Agricultural Engineering, and center of development (COD) in Development Communication.

VSU President Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin received the recognition with Dr. Christina A. Gabrillo, head of the Department of Development Communication (DDC), and College of Agriculture Dean Dr. Victor B. Asio.

CHEd defines the COE as a department within a higher education institution which continuously demonstrates excellence in the areas of instruction, research and publication, extension and linkages, and institutional qualifications.

As a COD, DDC demonstrates the potential to become a COE in the future.

The awarding ceremony was conducted during the Higher Education Week and CHED’s 22nd anniversary.
