The
Visayas State University (VSU) Main Campus tried
to make history by submitting on November 22-26,
2010 for institutional accreditation by the
Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and
Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP).
SUC-ACAP
institution heads converge at VSU.
Some
sixty heads and representatives of the different
institutions who are members of the State
Universities and Colleges-Association of
Colleges of Agriculture in the Philippines, Inc.
(SUC-ACAP) converged on November 6-7, 2010 at
the VSU Center for Continuing Education in
Baybay, Leyte for its 4th Quarter SCU-ACAP
Executive Council Meeting.

Jose L. Bacusmo, VSU President, has been elected
as Board Member for 2011-2012 of the Asian
Association of Agricultural Colleges and
Universities (AAACU) during the 18th AAACU
Biennial Convention on October 27-30, 2010 held
at the Guam Marriott Resort and Spa in Tumon
Bay, Guam, USA.

VLHS
young researchers reap awards in reg'l S&T
Fair.
Eleven
budding researchers of the VSU Laboratory High
School (VLHS) added feathers to the cap of the
school by winning in the Regional Science and
Technology Fair 2010 held on October 2-3 at the
DepEd-8 Regional Teachers' Training Center in
Candahug, Palo, Leyte.
ViCARP
gets a grand slam in PCARRD's Biennial Search
for Outstanding Institution, Research
Administrator and Scientist.
There
is a reason for the Visayas Consortium for
Agriculture and Resources Program (ViCARP) and
its lead institution, the Visayas State
University (VSU), to celebrate. This is because
for the first time in the history of the
Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry,
and Natural Resources Research and Development
(PCARRD), one of the 13 councils of the
Department of Science and Technology (DOST) that
an R and D consortium has won three major
awards- the Tanglaw Award, the PANTAS for
Research Administrator and PANTAS for
Researcher/Scientist category.
VSU's
BS Food Tech grad is among the 2010 Ten
Outstanding Students of the Philippines.
Miss
Jihan Santanina J. Santiago, 2010 BS in Food
Technology (Magna Cum Laude) graduate of the
Visayas State University (VSU), is among the
2010 Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines
(TOSP). Sharing the honor is Dr. Jose L.
Bacusmo, VSU President, who received a
certificate of recognition fromthe TOSP National
Executive Committee in gratitude of VSU's
contribution to the success of the 2010 TOSP
National Program.
