The VSU Culture and the Arts Center (CAC) kicked off the arts’ month celebration in the university through a painting exhibit held on February 13, 2018 at the Center for Continuing Education (CCE). This exhibit featured the works of local artists in Baybay and have also included some works of students from the Banaag Visual Arts Group.

Following this was a two-day competition dubbed as the 2nd Culture and the Arts Festival held on February 27-28, 2018. This event showcased the talents of VSU students in music, visual, literary, dances performing arts and a pageant. The event also sought to screen student qualifiers for the Regional Culture and Arts Festival to be held later this year at the Eastern Samar State University (ESSU).

Prof. Jesusito L. Lim, the CAC Head, said that the festival was intentionally organized to coincide with the National Arts’ Month celebration being spearheaded by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). The CAC Head further revealed that the event carried the theme of the National Arts Month celebration to emphasize the bounty of artistic endeavors in the Philippines and the passion of Filipino artists and cultural workers.

For his part, VSU President Edgardo E. Tulin, expressed his outmost support for the continued flourishing of culture and arts in the university by nourishing the pool of talents of VSU students. In the opening program, the President explained how important culture and arts in providing color and vibrancy to academic life.
