Besides winning the quiz show on Small Animal Medicine on February 1 (read story here), Team VSU earned the third place in the Vet Med Henyo competition, and first place both in the Zooteknika Quiz Show and the National Veterinary Brain Battle: Champion of Champions.

Fifth-year students Hexelsa Joy Nuñez and Isabel Gimenez landed third place in the Veterinary vocabulary quiz called Vet Med Henyo.

Nanette Joy Bercades, sixth-year, and Wilfredo Andico Jr., fourth-year, outperformed 20 teams from different schools nationwide in the Zooteknika Quiz Show. Questions revolved around Zootechnique and Management topics.

The team of Bercades, Andico, and fifth-year student Perkin Charles Ong bested other teams in the National Veterinary Brain Battle: Champion of Champions. Ong eventually emerged as the overall champion.

Team VSU was headed by John Philip Lou Lumain, sixth-year and CVM-VSU representative to the National Excutive Committee of NCVMS. The team was accompanied by their adviser Dr. Carl Leonard Pradera, an instructor at the VSU College of Veterinary Medicine. The winners received cash prizes and plaques.

NCVMS is an annual gathering of veterinary medicine students and faculty members in the Philippines. With the theme, Building bridges and breaking barriers, the congress featured quiz contests, seminars, and teambuilding activities which concluded on February 3.
