VSU, CCC to beef up Haiyan-affected areas through agri
The project aims to strengthen the capacity of six Haiyan-stricken areas in Leyte and Samar to manage risks and adapt to the overall impact of climate change. The selected six barangays in Abuyog, Mayorga, and Mac Arthur in Leyte, and Lawaan and Marabut in Samar are currently being assisted by the Resilience and Preparedness toward Inclusive Development (RAPID) Program.
RAPID is a component program established under the Project Climate Twin Phoenix of CCC and the United Nations Development Program.
VSU, through its Department of Horticulture (DoH), and the Philippine Rootcrops Research and Training Center (PhilRootcrops), will provide trainings and other technical assistance in vegetable and sweet potato production to these areas.
The MOA was signed between VSU President Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin and CCC Secretary Emmanuel M. De Guzman and witnesses from CCC and VSU. This four-month project will be funded by CCC with an amount of P940,000.
