ADMISSIONS PROCEDURES

Step 1. Go to "https://cat2026.vsu.edu.ph/" and click the "Get Started" button.

Step 2. Read the Privacy and Consent form and click "I Agree".

Step 3. Input your active email address and click "Submit".

Note: Please check your email inbox for confirmation link after clicking the "Submit" button.

Step 4. Fill out the VSU Admission Application form.

Note: Always click "Save" before clicking the "Next" button.

Step 5. Review your information and click the "Submit" button.

Step 6. Please check your email for the details of your examination. Please take note of your schedule, testing center, examination link, username and password.

Note:

1. For transfer students, you may upload a copy of your grades for all semesters taken, signed by your registrar, if the TOR is not yet available.
2. For transfer students who have only taken one semester in college, please upload your TOR/copy of grades and certification of your Grade 12 GPA.

For Senior High School Graduating Students
  • Certification of your grades with a computed Grade Point Average (GPA) from Grades 9, 10 and 11

TAKING THE EXAM
EXAMINATION PROTOCOLS
  • Take note of your chosen exam date, time and testing center as indicated in the confirmation email we sent you.
  • Arrive at the testing center at least 1 hour or 30 minutes before your scheduled time.
    For example, if your exam is at 9:00 AM, you must be at the venue by 8:00 AM or 8:30 AM.
  • Wear appropriate attire during the examination. Wearing vulgar or indecent clothing is strictly prohibited.
  • Prepare your valid ID and test permit for verification by admission office staff and proctors during attendance checking.
  • The use of calculators, cellphones and other electronic devices is not permitted during the exam.
  • Bring clean scratch paper for your mathematical solutions.
  • Water tumblers and clear water bottles are allowed, provided they are positioned away from the computer units.
  • Log in to the exam platform using the link and account credentials provided to you.
  • Should you need assistance, do not hesitate to ask for help from the admission staff.
  • Complete the exam. If you finish before the two-hour mark, notify your proctor, log out of the exam platform, and quietly leave the classroom.
Instructions for Examinees (Test Procedures)
  • Upon entry at the VSU main gate, security personnel will check your test permit together with your valid Identification Card.
  • Please have your ID ready for verification. Make sure it matches the registration details you submitted.
  • All electronic devices, including cellphones, smartwatches and calculators, are strictly prohibited inside the testing room.
  • Water tumblers and clear water bottles are allowed, provided they are positioned away from the computer units.
TEST INSTRUCTIONS
  • The test is computer-based and consists of multiple-choice questions. You will answer questions directly on the computer.
  • You will log in to the test system (Moodle) using the credentials provided.
  • Bring extra papers if needed for calculations or notes. All materials must remain in the room after the test.
  • The total time allotted for the test is 2 hours. Time warnings are flashed on your computer screen.
  • If you encounter any technical issues or have questions about the test procedure, raise your hand, and you will be assisted.
  • No breaks during the test. Have all your personal necessities (going to CR) before your scheduled time.
  • If you need medical attention, inform immediately the assigned proctor for proper assistance.
  • Review and complete the exam. If you finish before the two-hour mark, notify your proctor. Log out of the exam platform, then quietly leave the classroom.
  • Should you need assistance, do not hesitate to ask for help from the Admissions staff.
  • Leave all scratch papers and ensure no test materials are removed from the room.
  • Remain seated until instructed to leave. Exit the room quietly and follow the signs to the designated exit area.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
1. What is VSUCAT and who is required to take it?

The Visayas State University College Admission Test (VSUCAT) is the official admission test required for most undergraduate applicants, except those who are exempted under approved policies.

2. Who are eligible to apply for undergraduate admission at VSU?

Eligible applicants include Senior High School graduates, ALS-A&E passers, transfer students, second-degree (second-courser) applicants, and international students.

3. Who are exempted from taking the VSUCAT?

VSU alumni applying for a second degree and students transferring between VSU component campuses are exempted from taking the VSUCAT, subject to slot availability and program-specific requirements.

4. How is the admission rating computed?

The admission rating is computed as 70% VSUCAT score + 30% GPA.

5. What is the minimum rating required to qualify for admission?

Applicants must obtain a final admission rating of at least 60% and be within the approved quota of the chosen degree program to qualify.

6. What happens if an applicant meets the passing rating but exceeds the program quota?

Applicants with a final rating of 60% or higher who exceed the quota of all chosen programs may be admitted as open qualifiers to other programs with available slots, subject to approval.

7. What is the Expanded Affirmative Action / Equity Target Groups (ETGs) policy?

Up to 10% of slots per degree program may be allocated to applicants under Equity Target Groups (ETGs), student-athletes, and artists who obtain a final rating of 40% to below 60%, subject to ranking and documentary verification.

These include:

  • Solo parents and their dependent children
  • Sons and daughters of 4Ps beneficiaries (with guaranteed slots, subject to program requirements)
  • Underprivileged or poor families (barangay-certified)
  • Indigenous Peoples (NCIP-certified)
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
  • Learners from very remote barangays (DepEd-certified)
  • Dependents of persons enrolled under E-CLIP
  • Orphans (double-orphan)
  • Out-of-School Youth/Adults (OSY/OSA)
  • Senior citizens (60 years old and above)
  • Disaster-displaced families (IDPs)
  • Dependents of AFP/PNP KIA/KIPO or WIA/WIPO

8. Can ETG applicants qualify even if their rating is below 60%?

Yes. ETG, athlete, and artist applicants may qualify if their final rating is not lower than 40%, subject to ranking, slot availability, and required certifications.

9. What documents are required to apply for VSUCAT?

Applicants must upload academic records with a computed GPA, a valid ID (or voter's certification if no ID is available), and other documents required based on their applicant category.

10. What does it mean if an application is reverted in the Admissions Portal?

A reverted application indicates that the submitted documents are incomplete, unclear, or deficient and must be corrected and resubmitted for validation.

11. What testing modes are used for VSUCAT?

VSUCAT is conducted through a hybrid (online) mode using the Moodle platform and through face-to-face pen-and-paper examinations, which may be administered in VSU component campuses and approved off-campus/partner testing centers with an approved MOA.

12. What is the test coverage of the VSUCAT?

The VSUCAT consists of 100 multiple-choice items distributed as follows:

  • English – 30 items
  • Mathematics – 30 items
  • Science – 30 items
  • Abstract Reasoning – 10 items

All test questions are aligned with the Department of Education (DepEd) K–12 Curriculum Guides.

13. What happens if an applicant loses internet connection or there is a power interruption during the test?

If the disruption occurs within the first 30 minutes, the applicant may be allowed to retake the test or switch to a pen-and-paper examination, depending on the situation. Otherwise, the test may be suspended and rescheduled through the Admissions Office.

14. How and where are VSUCAT results released?

Upon approval by the Office of the President, results are announced through VSU's official website and Facebook page by UIMPA. Applicants may view their individual results via the Admissions Portal.

15. What happens if a qualified applicant does not enroll?

Qualified applicants who fail to enroll within the prescribed period forfeit their slot for the academic year and must reapply and take the next VSUCAT if they decide to enroll in the future.
