A Message of Condolence from the President
Ma’am Carmen was a familiar and respected presence in the life of Baybay. She gave much of herself to public service, and her love for the city and its people could be felt in the way she served and in the lives she touched along the way.
For those of us at Visayas State University, her passing is deeply felt. Baybay is not only the home of our University; it is a community whose story has been shaped by people like Ma’am Carmen—people who cared deeply about its people, its future, and the generations who would come after them.
Some people leave behind titles and accomplishments. Others leave behind stories, memories, and a sense of gratitude in the people who knew them. Ma’am Carmen leaves much of the latter.
On behalf of the Visayas State University community, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Cari family, their relatives and friends, and to the people of Baybay City who are grieving this great loss.
May you find comfort in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories that will remain long after this difficult time has passed.
Rest in peace, Ma’am Carmen. May Baybay always remember you with love.
