 1. How is sexual harassment defined by law?

Sexual harassment is an act or series of acts involving any unwelcome sexual advance, request or demand for sexual favor, or other verbal or physical behavior of a sexual nature, committed by any administrator, faculty, staff, and student.

In a work-related or education/training-related environment, the person complained of exercise authority, moral ascendancy over another person or individual. [See page 2 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR)]

2. What acts can be considered sexual harassment?

Sexual harassment can consist of the following:

  1. Persistent, unwanted attempts to change a professional or educational relationship to a personal one
  2. Unwelcome sexual flirtations and inappropriate put-downs of individuals or classes of people
  3. Leering, whistling, touching, pinching, or brushing against another’s body.
  4. Use or display of objects or pictures, graphics, letters, or notes which have sexual underpinnings that would create a hostile or offensive work or living environment
  5. Sexual assault, rape

3. What inappropriate comments can be considered sexual harassment?

Statements that can be considered sexual harassment include:

  1. Graphic commentary about a person’s body, sexual prowess or deficiencies
  2. Repeated sexual-oriented kidding, teasing, joking, and flirting
  3. Offensive crude language
  4. Derogatory, demeaning, or lascivious comments about men and women in general, whether sexual or not

4. To whom will I report an incident of sexual harassment?

At VSU, you can ask for help or advice from the Anti-Sexual Harassment Office. The following personnel constitute ASHO:

5. How can I report a sexual harassment incident?

You can opt for either an informal or formal filing procedure.

  • Informal procedure: Have the incident recorded or document. Both parties will undergo counseling.
  • Formal procedure: File a written complaint to ASHO. A formal investigation or hearing will be conducted.

  1. Distance learners may take four courses equivalent to 12 units every semester, provided that they have performed satisfactorily and/or complied with the requirements of the courses taken the previous semester. Otherwise, they shall only be allowed to enroll one to two courses to give ample time to complete the lacking requirements.

  2. Tuition fee is PHP300/unit. The students are required to pay a minimum of PHP1000 upon enrolment. The remaining balance shall be paid before taking the final examination. Study guides per course must also be paid in full, including postage and handling charges, upon enrollment

  3. Enrollees under this scheme are required to report to the VSU Main Campus in Baybay City, Leyte, once a year to attend the two-week summer consultation dialogue, personally meet professors, discuss teaching-learning problems, and comply course requirements. Students, however, are always welcome to visit or communicate with their respective professors anytime of the year.

Medical Examination for Admission

Here is a series of steps that will guide you through the medical examination that is required for admission to the university.

 

Medical and Dental Services

Avail of the health services at a discounted rate. 

 

 

  1. Distance learners may take four courses, equivalent to 12 units for the whole year. However, enrolling in five courses is allowed provided that the learner has passed the courses taken during the first year, and complied all the course requirements.

  2. Tuition fee is PHP200/unit. Students are required to pay a minimum of PHP1000 for the tuition fee upon enrolment.The remaining balance shall be paid before taking the final examination. 

  3. Study guides which will serve as textbooks and reference materials are costed per course and an additional amount is charged for postage and handling. Costs of study guides must be fully paid, including the postage and handling charges, upon enrolment. 

  4. Enrollees under this scheme are required to report to the VSU Main Campus in Baybay City, Leyte, once a year to attend the two-week summer consultation dialogue, personally meet professors, discuss teaching-learning problems, and comply course requirements. Students, however, are always welcome to visit or communicate with their respective professors anytime of the year.

  • Pay the total fee of Php 335.00 at VSU Hospital’s Cashier

-Fill-out Medical Exam Form and wait for your priority number

-Pay for the following laboratory fees:

CBC: PhP 95.00
Urinalysis: PhP 35.00
Stool Examination: PhP 35.00
Chest X-Ray: PhP 170.00
TOTAL: PhP 335.00

-Height and weight measurements

-Eye examination

-Bring laboratory and Chest X-Ray results to the physician for examination
- Wait for release of medical or physical exam certificate
