VSU’s veterinary medicine (VetMed) delegates bagged several top awards in quiz bowl and video skit competitions of the recently concluded National Congress of Veterinary Medicine Students (NCVMS) held at DepEd Edutech Center, Lahug, Cebu City.

For the Pathology and Pharmacology category, #ProudViscans Kyle Andrey Ancog, John Anthony Pabe, and Aldryl Omega secured first place among eight vet schools competing for the quiz show.

Aside from the impressive results of the quiz bowl competition, VSU emerged as the second placer for its video skit entry, Dok Internet

The very talented VetMed sophomore, Erica Maceda is behind the direction and editing of the witty video skit. The Dok Internet talks about the importance of consulting real veterinarians rather than crowd-sourcing on the Internet to find solutions to health-related concerns or problems of pets and farm animals.

According to the Philippine Association of Veterinary Students' post, the video skit of VSU leaves an impressive mark because of its humorous content.

“Their compelling skit demonstrated wittiness and storytelling prowess, leaving a lasting impression on all who witnessed their performance,” as captioned on their Facebook post.

As for the case report presentation, VSU’s team presented a case of an eleven-year-old Aspin that was affected by a skin tumor on its lateral thoracic wall.

Dr. Jane Dautil, a faculty member of the VSU College of Veterinary Medicine, headed the VSU Delegation. She was honored to be with the VSU participants and happy to witness the students' experiences during the congress.

“It was a privilege to guide and be with them throughout the 20th NCVMS. The students did enjoy the activities, both academic and non-academic. It was also a good opportunity for the students to meet different people from different schools with different cultures but similar goals and passions.”

Now in its 20th edition, this year’s national confab was centered on the theme, “Panag-usa sa mga Isla Alang sa Beterinaryong Medisina” and was hosted by Cebu Technological University Barili Campus. This is a yearly gathering of veterinary medicine students and practitioners nationwide.

The event ran from February 12 to 16, 2024. Aside from the competitions, the participants also visited Cebu Ocean Park Expedition and Cebu Safari and Adventure Park.

VSU-CVM recently celebrated its college week from February 28 to March 1, 2024, with many fun and engaging activities prepared by the CVM student council leaders.
