One sophomore agriculture student and two fourth-year veterinary students of VSU were selected as recipients of the Scholarship Program of Bounty Cares Foundation, Inc. (BCFI), a corporate social responsibility arm of Bounty–the large-scale industrial agriculture corporation in the Philippines.
#ProudViscans Cindy P. Cerojales (BSA-2), Maria Faustina Gail P. Ibañeza (DVM-4), and Amarie Joy M. Muñeza (DVM-4) will each receive a total grant of Php 50,000 from BCFI to support their academic studies for one school year from August 2024 until May 2027.
In addition to the financial grant, the three were given laptops in their first year as BCFI scholarship grantees.
BCFI and VSU forged a partnership through a signed Memorandum of Agreement between Executive Director Arlene N. Cheng of BCFI and Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes, VSU President, for this Scholarship Program implementation in the university.
The scholarship program is exclusive only to regular second-year undergraduate students enrolled in Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering, Agriculture, Food Technology, Biology, Chemistry, and fourth-year Veterinary Medicine students.
Among the many benefits of being a Bounty grantee is being able to do their internship and apply for employment with the Bounty Fresh Group Holdings, Inc., which is considered one of the largest poultry integrators in the country.
To encourage them to do better in their studies, the scholars must maintain a grade point average of 2.50 and must not have a grade lower than 2.75 in their subjects.
Bounty was founded in 1993 and has been doing development initiatives and programs to uplift more lives through BCFI. Aside from the scholarship program, BCFI also has anti-rabies programs, feeding programs, and balik eskwela donation drives conducted in different places in the country.
Dr. Christina A. Gabrillo, VSU Dean of Students, expressed her gratefulness to Bounty Cares Foundation for allowing #ProudViscans to avail of their scholarship program.
"On behalf of Visayas State University, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Bounty Cares for their unwavering support and generosity. Your scholarship program is not only empowering our students to pursue their academic dreams but also investing in future leaders who will create meaningful change in our communities. Thank you for believing in their potential and for making a lasting impact on their lives," Dr. Gabrillo said.
The VSU Dean of Students also wished that more recipients from the university would benefit from the scholarship opportunity provided by Bounty Cares Foundation in the coming years.
