Career Paths

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management may pursue careers as entrepreneurs, managers, destination developers, tourism planners, government tourism professionals, researchers, educators, consultants, and industry leaders.

The Department particularly prepares and encourages graduates to establish and lead enterprises such as:

• Tourist Attraction and Destination Enterprises – development and management of tourism attractions, recreational facilities, visitor experiences, and emerging destinations;
• Ecotourism Enterprises – environmentally responsible tourism businesses centered on natural attractions, biodiversity conservation, environmental education, and community participation;
• Agritourism and Farm Tourism Enterprises – development of farms and agricultural resources into sustainable tourism, educational, recreational, and livelihood experiences;
• Sustainable Events Enterprises – professional event planning and management businesses incorporating responsible resource use, waste reduction, local sourcing, cultural sensitivity, and sustainable event practices;
• Travel and Tour Enterprises – establishment and management of travel agencies, tour operations, specialized tours, destination experiences, and technology-enabled travel services;
• Community-Based Tourism Enterprises – locally managed tourism ventures that create employment, strengthen community participation, support local producers, and retain tourism benefits within host communities;
• Tourism Product and Experience Development Enterprises – creation of innovative cultural, culinary, nature-based, adventure, educational, and experiential tourism products; and
• Tourism Consultancy and Professional Services – tourism planning, destination development, marketing, resource assessment, research, training, and advisory services for government, communities, and tourism enterprises.

Graduates may likewise pursue professional and leadership careers in resorts, hotels, travel and tour companies, attractions, destination management organizations, events and MICE enterprises, tourism associations, local government units, tourism offices, academe, and other tourism and allied institutions.

In the public sector, the program develops graduates who can eventually assume strategic and leadership positions in local and national tourism governance, including the Department of Tourism (DOT) and its attached agencies, and contribute to tourism policy, planning, destination development, marketing, regulation, sustainability, and national tourism development.

Across these career pathways, graduates are envisioned not merely as employees but as entrepreneurs, employment generators, responsible destination stewards, and leaders in environmental and cultural sustainability.
