VSU-to-expand-coconut-processing-with-new-retort-facility-under-DTI-SSF-Project

The Visayas State University (VSU), through its National Coconut Research Center–Visayas (NCRC-V), is set to expand its food processing capacity with the proposed installation of a new steam retort facility under the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Shared Service Facilities (SSF) Project.

Visayas State University (VSU) officials traveled to Belgium from May 3-11, 2025 to take part in a week-long series of meeting with Flemish universities under the Institutional University Cooperation (IUC) program of VLIRUOS, a move that brings VSU closer to securing one of the most competitive international academic partnerships open to institutions in the Global South.

The Visayas State University, through the Philippine Rootcrops Research and Training Center (PhilRootcrops), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) forged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to intensify the implementation of the program “Bigyang-Halaga, Bangon MSMEs (BBM MSMEs)” on April 8, 2025.

VSU is now partnering with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) of Region VIII to implement the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), the capacity-building initiative of DSWD to uplift communities against poverty.
