About the Program

The College of Education started to offer the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) in 2002. The program was revised in 2017 to adhere with the prescribed objectives for teacher education, as indicated in the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) memorandum order (CMO) no. 74, series of 2017. It is a four-year program that provides academic and appropriate training for future elementary school teachers of Grades 1–6 through the general education courses and professional education courses. The program culminates with an extensive teaching internship in various cooperating schools, both public and private, under the mentorship of highly experienced cooperating teachers and professional education supervisors.

BEEd is now a Level III accredited program by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges Universities and Colleges in the Philippines (AACCUP).

The following Viscans who graduated in this program have made a name in their field:

• Mr. Marjun R. Pilota, 2010 Cum Laude graduate of VSU's Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) from Pilar, Camotes Island, Cebu, is among the 10th placers in the 2011 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). Mr. Pilota got a rating percentage of 82.80 and was the only LET passer from Leyte who made it in the top ten.
• Ms. Maybelyn C. Bauyaban, 2009 Magna Cum laude graduate of VSU's Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED). She is a 9th placer during the September 2010 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) and currently working as a Master Teacher I at Bagong Buhay Elementary School University of Southern Philippines Foundation.
• Mr. Rod Mark N. Pedere, a 2023 Magna Cum Laude graduate of VSU's Bachelor of Elementary Education program from Tabunok, Hilongos, Leyte, placed 8th in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) held in March 2023. 
• Ms. Rica Mae Papong is a Cum Laude BEEd graduate from VSU in 2024. She ranked 6th in the LEPT - March 2025 with a rating of 93.4%. 
• Ms. Lorijane Francis M. Santiago, is a Cum Laude BEEd graduate from VSU in 2024. She ranked 3rd in the LET - March 2025 with a rating of 94%.
