As part of the University Interdormitory Student Body (UISB) efforts to promote local food security and a healthy diet for all dormitory residents, an edible gardening contest was spearheaded this year as part of the organization's major activities.

The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) through their extension project “VET Mends” visited the municipalities of San Isidro and Burauen, Leyte for their veterinary extension services such as castrations, rabies vaccinations, and deworming of pets and farm animals.

A two-storey Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) is operating at the Visayas State University to provide quality health care and medical services to our pets and farm animals.

VSU marks another national recognition as University Professor and Dean of the College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS) Dr. Victor B. Asio is honored with an Achievement Award by the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP).

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Validation team found that VSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine remains compliant with the policies, standards, and guidelines for the offering of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program in the university.
