Pinsker's Hawk-eagle

Visayas State University (VSU) in partnership with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Baybay City released a native endangered species of eagle called Pinsker’s hawk-eagle back into the wild on August 8, 2024, adding another achievement for the university’s goal in the conservation and protection of wildlife resources.

Visayas State University (VSU) participated in the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), a global project that aims to address ocean pollution via coordinated cleanups of beaches and waterways, for the second year in a row, together with the faculty, staff, and a variety of student organizations.

To assist the project on Asiatic Palm Weevil (APW), a type of pest that is a major threat to coconut production, the VSU Department of Pest Management (DPM) upgraded the old biocontrol room into a bigger facility capable of mass-producing biocontrol agents or beneficial microorganisms to control pests of coconut and other intercrops.
