The establishment of the Visayas State University (VSU) Faculty of Medicine is one step closer to becoming a reality following a crucial congressional meeting between VSU officials and Congressman Carl Nicolas C. Cari. 

To equip Viscan student nurses with vital life-saving skills for emergency medical situations, the VSU College of Nursing, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross Hilongos Chapter, conducted comprehensive training in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS)—Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at the university.

In a bold move towards further modernizing operations, Visayas State University President Prof. Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes challenged everyone to change their perspective about accreditations and correct the misnomer that it only benefits the administration.
