Anica Georgia C. Cari EVRAA Gold Medalist Lawn Tennis Girls (Singles)

Guia, as she is fondly called by her friends, easily grabbed the gold medal as she did not give her opponent, Bea Gracia Maxine N. Pelias of Leyte Division, a chance to score during the championship match with a final score of 7-0.  Similarly, her other three competitors from the different divisions during the elimination matches three days prior to the championship match suffered the same fate as she scored 6-0, 6-0, and 6-0, respectively, and dominated the games.  Because of her win, Guia shall represent the Eastern Visayas Region in the Palarong Pambansa which will be held on May 4-10, 2015 in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

Asked as to whom she offers her game, the beautiful girl Guia firmly answered that she wants to offer her championship game to her father, Congressman Jose Carlos L. Cari, and to her late mother, Dr. Margarita Cellona-Cari, who are both inclined to playing tennis.

In a related development, Kyle Louis S. Miraflor, a Grade 8 student of the VSU Laboratory High School whose team won the silver medal in the soccer football, was the only draft to join the winning soccer football team of Northern Samar in the Palarong Pambansa.

Supposedly, the 2014 EVRAA Meet was scheduled to happen in Baybay City.  But because of the Super Typhoon Yolanda in November 2013, the regional sports competition that year was cancelled.

With the persistence and strong determination of the local officials of the City of Baybay under the leadership of Honorable Mayor Carmen L. Cari, in partnership with the DepEd Baybay City Division headed by Mr. Gines S. Murallos, CESO VI, Schools Division Superintendent, this year’s EVRAA Meet successfully happened in this city.

The 13 athletic delegations that competed in various sporting events included those from the DepEd divisions of Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte, Baybay City, Borongan City, Calbayog City, Catbalogan City, Maasin City, Ormoc City, and Tacloban City.  JFMBaldos
