VSU launches major infrastructure projects for academic, research, student mobility initiatives

Through the realization of the 10-year Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP), the Visayas State University is now on its full blown implementation of some of the priority infrastructure projects starting last quarter of 2024. 

Among the priority projects is the construction of the Digital Learning Spaces Center situated at the side of the University Gymnasium.

VSU to host national conference on soil science and technology

VSU will once again host the annual meeting and scientific conference on Soil Science and Technology on June 18-20, 2025. 

This is the second time that VSU will host the same conference. Last was in 2010.

VSU implements new vision, mission, organizational structures

VSU officially implements its newly crafted vision, mission, guiding principles (core values), and the revamped organizational structures starting this year. 

The VSU Board of Regents approved the four-year Strategic Plan Execution Continuum and the new organizational structures that mark an important milestone in the university’s pursuit of excellence and societal transformation. 

VSU Dept. of Biological Sciences leads workshop for Ormoc’s coastal and marine resource plan

The VSU Department of Biological Sciences (DBS) recently spearheaded a three-day strategic planning workshop to enhance the Integrated Coastal and Marine Resources Management (ICMRM) Plan of Ormoc City on January 8-10, 2025. 

Pres. Yepes appoints new Vice Presidents; former CAS Dean joins the management committee

The VSU academic community welcomes its new Vice Presidents to work under the administration of University President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes to propel VSU further and farther for all its mandated areas in instruction, research, and community engagement. 

For 2025, President Yepes retains four of her previously designated Vice Presidents, with one reassigned to a new office, and adding a new member to the VSU Management Committee.

The Visayas State University has solidified its reputation as one of the leading institutions for sustainability by ranking 36th in the Philippines and 898th globally in the 15th edition of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.

VetMed Dean shares paper on ASF epidemiology in int’l confab in Australia

Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine (VetMed), Dr. Harvie P. Portugaliza, presented a paper on the causes of the African Swine Fever outbreak in Leyte at the 17th International Symposium of Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics (ISVEE) in Sydney, Australia.
