Cañas, fresh from completing his MS in Entomology at Visayas State University (VSU), claimed first place in the 2025 National Coconut Research and Development Congress (NCRDC) Poster Category. The event was held from July 29 to 31, 2025 at the Acacia Hotel in Alabang, Muntinlupa.

Visayas State University (VSU) has achieved a “very satisfactory” rating of 4.58 in the 2024 Annual Performance Review conducted by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and secured the fourth spot among State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Eastern Visayas.

The Visayas State University (VSU) has reached a historic milestone by securing a Certificate Program Compliance (COPC) from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for all its undergraduate and graduate programs across the VSU system. This means that all 101 programs are now fully CHED-compliant.
