About the Program

The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program of Visayas State University was designed to produce civil engineers who have sufficient background in general education courses, mathematics, physical and natural sciences, basic engineering sciences, allied courses and professional civil engineering courses.

The BSCE of VSU started in June 2008 by virtue of BOR Resolution no. 49 s2008. It was then a special program of the university. Only in 2010 was it given a dedicated department, the Department of Civil Engineering. In 2014, DCE produced its first batch of graduates which garnered a 100% passing rate in the Philippine Licensure Examination for Civil Engineers. And so far, VSU has been achieving an above the national passing rate performance in the said exam.

The present curriculum introduces specializations by requiring the students to engage in any of the following major fields: Construction Engineering and Management, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering.

Program highlights

The program was designed based on the minimum requirement stipulated in CHED Memorandum Order No. 92, series of 2017.
The VSU’s BSCE is a Washington Accord-Accredited degree program given by Philippine Technological Council - Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (PTC-ACBET) in 2018.
Level 1 AACUP Accredited since 2018
The curriculum has a total of 187 units of technical and non-technical courses and was designed to be finished within a duration of 4 years.
