About the Program

The Institute of Human Kinetics started offering the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Physical Education, Health and Music (PEHM) in 2002 with thirteen students as the first batch. In 2009, IHK revised its offering in accordance with CHED CMO No. 23 series 2004 into the Bachelor in Secondary Education major in Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health (BSEd-MAPEH).

With the k-12 implementation, new needs have arisen in the field of physical education. Hence, in 2018, the Institute of Human Kinetics of Visayas State University offered the program Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) under CMO No.80 series 2017, which is aligned to competency-based standards/outcomes-based education. This is in response to the 21st-century Philippine Teacher Education framework that will develop highly competent graduates with continuous professional development and produce globally qualified educators.
