About the Program

The Bachelor of Science in Criminology was offered during the School Year 2008 to 2009 in Visayas State University – Tolosa under the Department of Criminology, based upon the approved BOR Resolution No. 51, series of 2008, which attracted a good number of students. The program was later revised by BOR Resolution No. 56, s. of 2018 approving the revised curriculum of the BS Criminology Program in accordance with CHED Memorandum Order No. 5, Series of 2018 and was named the Department of Criminology and Forensics. At present, with the virtue of the Revised Organizational Structure, it was then named the College of Criminal Justice Education.

Today, the BS Criminology Program continues to produce graduates serving the public across all law enforcement agencies namely in Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail and Penology and other allied law enforcement agencies. All these where achieved through the effort and support of the University, it’s administration and the teaching force of the Department of Criminology and Forensics.

The offering of the BS Criminology program fits well with the VSU’s vision and mission and the BS Criminology goals and in line with the VSU System. The BS Criminology program at VSU Tolosa aims to be a center of excellence in Criminology in the region and target to produce globally competitive imbued with excellent leadership skill and commendable research work and community engagement in the six areas of Criminology, namely: Criminal Jurisprudence, Procedure and Evidence; Law Enforcement Administration; Criminalistics; Crime Detection and Investigation; Sociology of Crimes and ethics; and Correctional Administration.
