#VSU100 Centennial Year

Our fellow #ProudViscans, it’s time to mark your calendars as we are now releasing the initial schedule of activities for our much-awaited Grand Centennial Celebration.

The festivities will commence with a 100-day countdown on January 18, 2024, at 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon with a celebration of a Holy Mass to be followed by a groundbreaking ceremony of the Centennial Tower at the VSU Amphitheatre.

This groundbreaking ceremony will also include a public presentation of priority infrastructure projects that the next VSU administration will pursue.

A fireworks display will also be conducted in front of the VSU Administration Building to mark the 100-day countdown for the VSU Centennial.

From January 18 to April 27, many activities were lined up including a professorial lecture series, essay writing competition, sporting activities, regional press conference, book launching, marking of university heritage sites, and business trade fair will kick off the celebration leading to a month-long opening of the Flower and Garden Show along with a two-week booth exhibition for colleges, research units, and partner agencies of the university.

Customary anniversary activities like Mister and Miss VSU, livestock and poultry challenge along with local government and college-sponsored variety shows will also be held to fill up the nightly activities in April.

The Grand VSU Alumni Homecoming will also return as one of the highlights of the VSU Centennial festivities to encourage our #ProudViscans to come back to their second home.

The VSU Centennial Convocation will feature national officials who contributed to the steady growth and development of the university and will be opened by a float and contingent parade from the Lower Campus to the VSU Gymnatorium.

Kaugmaran Festival will also return this year to showcase artistic dance interpretation of a bountiful harvest that will be competed among 8 colleges of the flagship campus in Baybay City along with the four Component Campuses of the VSU system.

A bigger and grander Farmers and Fisherfolks Day celebration will be the concluding highlight of the VSU Centennial festivities that hope to gather around 5,000 farmers and fishermen from different parts of the Eastern Visayas region.

This will then be capped with a ceremony to honor 100 outstanding alumni who contributed to raising the flag of the university not just locally and nationally but also in the international arena.

For the full set of initially lined-up activities, please refer to the schedule below. Please take note that this will be continuously updated as more shows and performances will be confirmed very soon.
