Prexy Yepes 2024

The newly sworn President of the Visayas State University system had a full day of introductory meetings, courtesy calls, gracing a strategic planning workshop for a regional consortium, and signing her first Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in her first official workday as Chief Steward.

Upon her arrival in the Office of the President today (March 14, 2024), Dr. Prose Ivy Guasa Yepes met with her management staff to personally know them and understand their impressions and expectations from her being the new leader of VSU.

In this same meeting, she assured her management staff at the OP that she will carefully review the operations of the office and consult everyone before making any crucial changes as regards staffing and structure to bring out the best in VSU.

The new University President revealed that she received a marching order with the VSU Governing Board to understand deeply the daily operational routines of the university and look into the immediate implementation of the Revised Organizational Structure and Staffing Standards (ROSSS) for state universities and colleges (SUCs).

Immediately after the meeting with her management staff, Dr. Yepes was accorded with an arrival honors at the VSU Amphi-Theater by the officers of the university’s Reserved Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).

She also had the opportunity to visit some key offices at the Administration Building before delivering a message to the members of VSU-led regional group called Visayas Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Program (ViCARP) as they are currently holding their strategic planning workshop at the RDE Hall.

During her speech, the new VSU President assured the ViCARP members of her continued and steadfast support to ensure that the technologies that are locally generated in each university like VSU shall be pushed towards greater commercialization to provide livelihood opportunities to the people of Eastern Visayas.

In the afternoon, Dr. Yepes signed her first MOU as VSU President with a partnership agreement between the university’s Department of Physics with De La Salle University (DLSU) Manila represented by Dr. Edgar A. Vallar.

Present in the MOU signing are Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Beatriz S. Belonias, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Dean Dr. Ma. Theresa P. Loreto, and VSU Department of Physics Head Dr. Rev Rhizza L. Aure.

The new President is expected to gather all the officials of the university very soon who were all put on holdover positions so that proper transition of leadership shall be ensured as we await for the new set of designated officials under the Yepes administration.

Dr. Yepes is also expected to be welcomed by the local government of Baybay City within the week so that she can be properly introduced to the local officials whom she considered VSU’s staunchest partner for continued growth and development.
