With great pride and joy, our beloved university has been recognized as one of the top performing universities in the region after receiving three awards at the Pagpupugay sa Serbisyong Bayan: Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges VIII (PASUC8) Tribute and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Awards for Top Performers 2023.
The event was organized by the efforts of PASUC8 Regional Chair and President of Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr., to honor the exceptional contributions and efforts of the different state colleges and universities (SUCs) in the region in advancing higher education.
VSU President Prose Ivy G. Yepes attended the awarding ceremony held at the Summit Hotel, Tacloban City on June 27, 2024.
VSU received two Physical Performance Achiever awards for attaining the targets for all performance indicators in the higher education program in the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA). VSU met and surpassed set goals for its higher education programs which is proof of the university’s strategic planning, rigorous implementation, and continuous monitoring of performance indicators.
This also involves an effort from the administration, faculty, and staff to align their efforts with the targets outlined in the GAA.
The second Physical Performance Achiever for achieving 100% actual accomplishments on the indicator “Percentage of Undergraduate Programs with Accreditation.” This award highlights VSU’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and ensuring quality education.
VSU's resource efficiency is evident in these awards. Recognizing all performance indicators and full accreditation of undergraduate programs under the 2023 GAA indicates the university's commitment to quality education and high academic standards.
On top of that, the 100% Disbursement BUR Performer Award highlights VSU's effective financial management and strategic use of resources, reflecting the institution's proactive approach to meeting its needs and improving facilities and services. These accolades confirm VSU's role as a leading institution committed to continuous improvement and innovation.
Aside from these two awards, VSU is also recognized for its commendable utilization rate of Actual Disbursement over the Total Disbursement Authorities Received, garnering a 100% utilization rate.
This credits to the effective financial management and strategic utilization of resources that have enabled the university to achieve a perfect disbursement rate. This manifests the university's efficient budget planning, timely execution of projects, and strict adherence to financial protocols.
Meanwhile, Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin, former VSU President and outgoing PASUC8 Executive Board Member renowned for his leadership and unwavering dedication, was also given a prestigious award for his outstanding contribution to higher education and institutional advancement.
These recent excellence awards reflect VSU’s promise to high academic standards, innovative practices, and efficient resource management. One of this administration’s goals is to provide a top-quality education that prepares you for future challenges. Further, we support everyone’s dedication to teaching and research excellence, while welcoming our partners’ collaborations here and abroad in driving sustainable development.
