VSU goes cashless with LBP

Visayas State University (VSU) continues to invest in digitalizing and advancing student welfare as it partners with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) for the CashLite Program.

On August 24, 2026, VSU and the LANDBANK formally entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to implement the "Cash-Lite Campus" program across the VSU system. 

Hundreds of students, faculty members, and administrative staff from the VSU system attended the initial CashLite Program distribution on September 2 at the VSU Gymnatorium, where attendees learned how to join and benefit from the program’s cashless offerings.

Modernizing Campus Transactions

The CashLite Program is designed to encourage and assist VSU students and staff in transitioning from cash-based to digital transactions.

From enrollment and fee payments, to everyday small purchases at concessionaires, the program is intended to promote a safe, accessible, and organized system designed to help cardholders maximize their financial potential.

During the event, participants learned how to sign up and access the digital wallet, as well as the product’s smart features. LandBank representatives also taught an introductory course on key financial literacy concepts, including general budgeting and online transaction safety.

Bridging Academe and Community Innovations

The VSU administration sees the adoption of a cashless culture as part of its commitment to provide quality education and student services. The university is capitalizing on the opportunity to innovate its own processes and contribute to a cleaner, paperless community.

The VSU administration emphasized that the cashless transition will empower Viscans by equipping them with relevant financial technology knowledge and know-how.

Community Engagement and Advancing Inclusiveness

VSU Finance Director Louella C. Ampac, extended the university’s appreciation to LANDBANK for driving the initiative. 

“The VSU Administration is thankful that it will allow faster release of the stipends of our student scholars, especially our scholars in the TES, TDP, our VSU-funded scholars. They can receive their stipend on time,” she said.

Students have expressed appreciation for the convenience of cashless payments, which reduces lines at enrollment and fee collection counters. Local micro-vendors and concessionaires will also benefit from partnerships with the CashLite Program, which promises safer and faster payments.

VSU looks forward to accelerating progress towards a fully digital financial ecosystem, both in its Main and Component campuses.
