The results of the October 2015 Geodetic Engineer Licensure Examination added another feather on VSU’s cap as four of its graduates landed in the top ten and all of them, the eleven VSU graduates, passed in the said exam giving VSU an institutional passing percentage of 100% as compared to the national passing percentage of 35.10%.

This year’s topnotcher is Engr. Rex R. Doñoz from Dolores, Eastern Samar who got an average rating of 89.80%, much higher than the second and third placers from UP Diliman who garnered an average rating of 87.20 and 87.00 percentages, respectively. Rex is the son of Mr. Esmeraldo C. Doñoz (a farmer) and Mrs. Rebecca R. Doñoz (a housewife).

Engr. Romer S. Bongbonga from Barangay Bagong Buhay, Ormoc City is the 4th placer with an average rating of 86.60%. Romer is the son of Mr. Romilo M. Bongbonga (a driver) and Ms. Erlinda S. Bongbonga (a housewife). Engr. Mark Russell G. Guatno is the 7th placer with an average rating of 84.80%. He is the son of Mr. Regelio E. Guatno (a surveyor) and Engr. Sylvia G. Guatno (a Geodetic Engineer) from Body District, Tagbilaran City, Bohol. The 9th placer is Engr. Kim Ralph D. Rosal who garnered 84.40% average rating. He is the son of Mr. Danie A. Rosal (a fisherman) and Ms. Gemma D. Rosal (a housewife).

The other new engineers of VSU are: Engr. Lendell Jay M. Dano, Engr. Gwen Avey O. Mandras, Engr. Clyde O. Pelesco, Engr. Rosemarie M. Septimo, Engr. Shera Marie E. Serad, Engr. Glenda Loraine S. Sobrio, and Engr. Jose Gilmar T. Vale.

In this regard, Dr. Jose L. Bacusmo, VSU President, received a congratulatory letter from Dr. Maura Consolacion D. Cristobal, Director IV of the Commission on Higher Education of Region 8, on VSU’s success by producing topnotchers in the October 2015 Geodetic Engineer Licensure Exam. “May you continue to contribute to the promotion of quality education and setting the bar of excellence higher,” the CHED-8 Director said.

As announced by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board of Geodetic Engineering ,  the 179 out of 510 passers of October 2015 Geodetic Engineering Board Exam took the following programs: 1) Laws, Rules and Regulation; 2) Mathematics; 3) Theory and Practice of Surveying; 4) Geodesy; and 5) Cartography.
