As part of Visayas State University’s (VSU) vision of becoming a globally competitive university, the Southeast Asian Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources, simply called University Consortium (UC), grants an affiliate membership to the Visayas State University.

The Visayas Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Program, known as ViCARP was selected as the 2020 Ugnay Award 1st Runner-Up, being the country’s second-best managed research consortium for years.

As the Christmas season starts at Visayas State University, President Edgardo E. Tulin reminded everyone to be sensitive by toning down the usual Christmas holiday celebrations and balance it with our current pandemic crisis, including recent natural disasters that affected a huge part of Luzon.

Dr. Roel R. Suralta, a Career Scientist II at the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), received the 2020 Outstanding Research and Development Award or the Eduardo A. Quisumbing Medal for Basic Research and the 2020 Outstanding Filipino Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellow in the field of Agriculture.

The short film ‘Verdant’, produced by ‘Ang Maharlika Productions’, an all-Viscan production team, received prestigious awards during the 2020 Klima Film Festival.

In partnership with the Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE), Visayas State University trained the employees of the Department of Agriculture (DA) on software-aided feasibility study preparation and evaluation on September 21- November 25, 2020.

Because of the overwhelming changes in our current educational setup brought by the new normal, the VSU administration implements the first Wellness Week to be held from November 23 to 29, 2020.
