Attainment of the highest quality of man power research and development in mathematics, physics and statistics in support of science and technology and development goals.

Goals

The goals of the institute are the following:

  1. Excellent and relevant instruction, research, extension, and production in the field of statistics.
  2. Appropriate utilization of statistics in scientific, technological, and developmental undertakings.
  3. Sustainable linkages and collaboration with local and international statistical units and agencies.
  4. High level of functional knowledge and public utility of statistics for planning and decision-making in all sectors of society.

Objectives

  1. The institute aims to achieve the following general objectives within the next years:
  2. To produce highly trained graduates to serve the statistical needs of the Visayas, in particular, and the country, in general.
  3. To undertake quality research and development activities in statistics and related fields.
  4. To actively prompt the appropriate utilization of statistics among scientists, technologists, and development workers in the Visayas.
  5. To maintain productive linkages and cooperation with statistical units and agencies locally and internationally.
  6. To upgrade the expertise of statistical users in the Visayas.

The Institute of Tropical Ecology was approved by the ViSCA Board of Trustees in May 1998 to undertake and promote ecological education, research and extension in the Visayas. It is task to sustain and continue the ecological and environmental research and development activities of the university.

Vision

A center of excellence in tropical ecology to serve as an instrument for the attainment of a balanced environment for the present and future generations.

Mission

Attainment of the well-being of the people in the Visayas through effective and highly developed resources and the generation, dissemination and application of relevant knowledge and technology in tropical ecology.

Objectives

  • To produce quality manpower in tropical ecology.
  • To generate appropriate knowledge and technologies for the sustainable management of natural resources.
  • To disseminate appropriate and sustainable technologies for the well being of farmer and fisherfolk.
  • To establish lasting linkages and cooperation with local, national, and international institutions and agencies involved in sustainable management of natural resources in tropical ecology.
  • To establish and maintain development-oriented and income-generating projects as model in resource management and entrepreneurship.

Welcome to the Society of Agribusiness Students, an organization for students enrolled in the BSAB curriculum. 

Membership to the organization is voluntary. Check out our annual activities below:

  • SABS Valentine's Express - a fund-raising activity organized every Valentines Day.
  • SABS Entrepreneurial Booth - a week-long fund-raising activity organized during the VSU Anniversary. 
  • Alay-Linis - a clean-up activity in the campus done as the organization's service to the university.
  • Bundle of Joy - we give gifts to the indigents in nearby communities during the Christmas season. 
  • Educational Field Trip - SABS members go on an educational field trip to business firms in Cebu as an orientation to the real business arena 
  • Tribute to BSAB Graduates - We pay tribute to our big brothers and sisters before their graduation
  • BSAB Freshmen Orientation - SABS co-sponsors this activity with the Department of Business Management to help BSAB freshmen get by with college education at VSU
  • Organizational meetings - these are held periodically to inform/update members about organizational matters.
  • Induction and Acquaintance Party - a party to welcome new members to the organization. 
  • Tutorial Services - We provide tutorial services in math, calculus, accounting among other courses as per request. 
  • Other Service Activities - SABS members assist in department-based trainings, seminars and other activities by acting as facilitators and co-organizers
