To strategically increase the volume of patent applications and publications and protect the intellectual property (IP) of VSU, the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation (OVPREI), through the Innovation Office and Innovation & Technology Support Office (ITSO/IP), organized an awareness seminar on intellectual property and patent search training for its employees.

Construction of a PHP 7.6 million Forest Products Innovation and Training Center (FPITC) is underway at the Department of Forest Science (DFS) Nursery Compound of VSU to boost local forest products-based industries and communities in the Visayas region.

Visayas State University (VSU) has been singled out by the University of Ghent (UGent) in Belgium as a partner for the Institutional University Cooperation Project (IUCP). Recently, university officials met with the Belgian professors to discuss how the program will be implemented in the coming years.
