As the university opens a brand new school year, around 300 newly hired faculty members across the five campuses of the Visayas State University system gather at the RDE Hall today, August 12, 2024.

The Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory (PTCL) of the VSU Department of Horticulture (DOH) is now upgraded with new equipment and laboratory glassware to produce selected bamboo planting materials and other horticultural crops.

To respond immediately to campus emergencies, VSU Tolosa strengthened its disaster management by procuring a 1.8 million pesos rescue vehicle from its Special Trust Fund.

To assist the project on Asiatic Palm Weevil (APW), a type of pest that is a major threat to coconut production, the VSU Department of Pest Management (DPM) upgraded the old biocontrol room into a bigger facility capable of mass-producing biocontrol agents or beneficial microorganisms to control pests of coconut and other intercrops.

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 8 (DA RFO 8) recognized VSU as one of its outstanding partners in development, specifically in the agri-fishery sectors in Eastern Visayas.
