Visayas State University (VSU) hit the highest mark possible for any institution in the area of intellectual property (IP) creation, protection, and commercialization, as it garnered the 2026 Platinum Award from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) in the recently concluded Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) President’s Summit and General Assembly on March 25, 2026 at Iloilo Convention Center.

In line with the university’s efforts in sustainable infrastructure and development, four completed and ongoing construction projects have been turned over to its end users during the Signing of Infrastructure Project Turnover Certificate held on March 2, 2026 at the Office of the University President (OP) Board Room.

For the first time in its century-long history, Visayas State University has surpassed the 100 mark in Scopus-indexed publications within a single year. In 2025, the University recorded 107 Scopus documents, placing it among a small group of Philippine higher education institutions with sustained research output visible in global academic databases.

VSU-pioneers-Landbanks-GPC-program-in-Eastern-Visayas

Visayas State University initiated the implementation of the Government Purchase Card (GPC) Program of the Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) in a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed between VSU President, Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes, and LANDBANK Retail Banking Group (RBG) Head, First Vice President (FVP) Kristine Marie G. Cuevas, last February 5, 2026.

House-Committee-OKs-HB-2045-for-a-new-era-of-coconut-research-in-the-Visayas

The House Committee on Agriculture and Food has approved House Bill (HB) No. 2045, a proposed measure led by Representative of the Fifth District of Leyte Carl Nicolas C. Cari that will formally elevate the Visayas State University (VSU) as the core research hub for the coconut industry in the Visayas.
