About the Program

The BSCS degree program of Leyte State University, the former name of Visayas State University, was approved on February 8, 2002 with BOR resolution No. 17, series of 2002 with the guidance of CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 53, Series of 2006. Since the latest update of CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 25, Series of 2015, the curriculum has been revised for students from the K-12 curriculum and has been granted by CHED with the Certificate of Compliance (COPC) No. 37, Series of 2020 to officially offer the revised program of BSCS.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) is designed to equip students with knowledge in creating, designing, and applying effective and efficient solutions for solving complex real-world computing problems. Moreover, the program will prepare students to acquire skills and disciplines required for designing, writing and modifying software components, modules and applications that comprise software solutions. It focuses on the software, the hardware, the underlying theory of computing, its applications to scientific and technical problem solving, and to information processing in commerce and industry.
