About the Program

The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) program is intended to prepare the students for a professional industrial engineering career including a leading role in the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment, and energy. Graduates of the program must have specialized knowledge and skills in the mathematical, physical, and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems.

The Visayas State University – Isabel started offering the degree of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in June 2002. Its main purpose was to provide the industrial manpower needs in the locality since Isabel, Leyte locates the Leyte Industrial Development Estate (LIDE) which houses the two big industries, namely Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corporation (PASAR) and Philippine Phosphate Fertilizer Corporation (PHILPHOS). The first is the only copper smelter and refinery in the Philippines while the latter produces fertilizers. Both have markets outside the country. And, Isabel is known as being the Agro-Industrial Capital in Region VIII. For years, the institution has been a partner with these two industries in the achievement of both parties’ objectives.
