Visayas State University Alangalang has scored a major win in the Philippine Army Cyber Defense Exercises—TRON 2026 Qualifiers, held online on October 25–26, 2025. 

Competing against top State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) across the country, two student teams from VSU Alangalang delivered impressive performances, with one advancing to the national stage.

Team NetNaViscan emerged as the Regional Champion for Eastern Visayas (Region VIII), securing a spot in the national qualifiers. The group displayed remarkable technical skill, tactical planning, and composure under pressure throughout the multi-level cyber defense challenges.

Team NetNaViscan members include Kurt Jarred G. Hipe, Ashley Mae Banquillo, Mark Florence P. Sabinator and Angelyn M. Cabaltera.

Adding to this feat, Team Cybersecutiee also made it to the Top 3 in the regional round, further proving the growing strength of VSU Alangalang’s IT program in cybersecurity competitions.

Team Cybersecutiee members include Mark Roland P. Delicano, Hannah Florence A. Villafuerte, Joana May B. Rosas and John Norman B. Aliviado. 

Both teams trained under the guidance of Ms. Kent Claire Apple Joy M. Pallomina, IT faculty member and team coach, who helped the students translate their classroom training into real-time digital defense strategies.

During a simple recognition ceremony, Sgt. Christian M. Llena of the 802nd Infantry (PEERLESS) Brigade, 8th Infantry (STORMTROOPERS) Division, Philippine Army, personally presented the Certificates of Recognition and Tokens of Appreciation to the student participants.

These wins mark a proud moment for VSU Alangalang as it continues to build a strong reputation in the field of information technology and cybersecurity. With Team NetNaViscan moving on to the national stage, the campus community rallies behind them as they represent Eastern Visayas and the VSU system in the country’s premier cyber defense competition.
