Commissioner Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari, former President of Tarlac State University (TSU) and past head of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), has been designated as the new Chairperson of the Visayas State University (VSU) Governing Board. She succeeds Dr. Ethel Agnes P. Valenzuela, whose term as Commissioner has concluded.

Twenty-four (24) graduates from Visayas State University Tolosa passed the October 2025 Fisheries Professionals Licensure Examination, according to the results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has formally recognized Visayas State University (VSU) as a Delivering Higher Education Institution (DHEI) under the Scholarships for Staff and Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP). This designation enables the university to host and manage government-funded scholars beginning academic year 2025-2026
