To strategically increase the volume of patent applications and publications and protect the intellectual property (IP) of VSU, the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation (OVPREI), through the Innovation Office and Innovation & Technology Support Office (ITSO/IP), organized an awareness seminar on intellectual property and patent search training for its employees.

Among the 25 presented studies, Dr. Louie P. Gula, a faculty member of the VSU Institute of Human Kinetics (IHK), won the best paper award at the 8th International Conference of Sports for Development and Peace (ICSDP) in Indonesia.

Fourteen plant protection majors from the agriculture program and one chemistry student are selected as recipients of the Undergraduate Research and Education Assistantship for Technology (uGREAT) Program initiated by the Department of Science and Technology—Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD).

Engr. John Christian L. Gaviola, a faculty member of the VSU Department of Civil Engineering, is accorded the Best Presenter Award during the 4th International Conference on Disaster Management (ICDM) 2024 at Universitas Andalas in Indonesia.

With the longtime partnership of VSU and Hiroshima University in Japan, another two faculty members from the Department of Animal Science and the College of Veterinary Medicine, along with four students, were sent to join the 16th International Summer School. 

Norman John N. Bandibas, a first-year computer science student, won a gold medal in the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad (PhIMO) Final Round 2024, a friendly mathematical problem-solving competition.

At least 15 Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs), including Visayas State University, have been listed as ‘Reporter’ status of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025.
