In commemoration of the 200th birth anniversary of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale, the Visayas State University College of Nursing (CON) spearheaded a week-long activity highlighting the importance of nurses and midwives worldwide, from January 20 to 24, 2020.

The event kicked off with a parade followed by a general knowledge quiz show, cheering competition, parlor games, amazing race, quiz bee, spoken poetry, and poster-making contest.

CON capped-off the four-day celebration with a solidarity night honoring VSU’s newly registered nurses who successfully passed the November 2019 Nursing Licensure Exam, ending the year with another 100% passing rate.

The college anchored its celebration on the World Health Organization’s pronouncement, declaring the year 2020 as the “Year of the Nurse and Midwife.”

College of Nursing dean Jesusa M. Magno thanked the students and clinical instructors for their full support and cooperation during the celebration.
