To begin the semester, the VSU Main Campus in Baybay City organized its regular student and faculty onboarding before officially starting the classes. A two-day separate onboarding program for students and faculty happened at VSU Gymnasium and RDE Hall.

The newly-hired faculty from all five campuses joined the onboarding program at the RDE Hall, while the first batch of students composed of the College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS), College of Nursing (CoN), College of Engineering and Technology (CET), and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) attended the general orientation at the gymnasium.

On top of that, the University Supreme Student Council (USSC) prepared the Grand Welcome Night this year with the theme, “Speak Now: The Vischanting Night” which the first-year students and the old students enjoyed. Also, they had the opportunity to showcase their different outfits related to the vibe and color palette of Taylor Swift’s Eras. This event happened yesterday, August 17, 2023, at the VSU Lower Oval.

The welcome night was filled with music and dance and performances from the talented Viscans from different bands namely Apikisheesh Band, The Irregulars, BCAED Performers, CLARA, and The Sessions.

VSU President Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin is proud to welcome all the new students to the university by highlighting how fortunate they are to be admitted to one of the country’s top universities today.

“Every year more and more students wish to study here in VSU. Our increasing number of VSUCAT applicants signifies this. For this school year alone, out of 17,000 plus takers of our admission exam, we only accepted around 3,600 here on the Main Campus. This is how competitive it has become to be admitted here at VSU so I hope that your achievement of studying in one of the country’s best universities will motivate you to complete your college degree on time and will also push you to bring greater honor to our beloved institution,” Dr. Tulin said.

The component campuses of VSU in Alangalang, Isabel, Tolosa, and Villaba also held their own Student Onboarding Program in their respective campuses simultaneous to the activities held in the flagship campus in Baybay City.

All colleges in the Main Campus are also expected to hold their very own college orientation programs which shall run from September 18 to 23.
