After the Visayas State University (VSU) has been awarded on August 14, 2009 by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as the National University/College for Agriculture and Fisheries (NUCAFs) under the National Agriculture and Fisheries Education System (NAFES) of Republic Act (RA) 8435, otherwise known as the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act of 1997, two NAFES Evaluation Teams visited the VSU Main Campus and the VSU-Tolosa Campus on September 6-7, 2012.

The Visayas State University gave awards to deserving individuals and institutions in recognition of their contributions to the development of the University. This was done during the 88th Anniversary Convocation which was held on August 11, 2012 at the VSU Gymnatorium.

The Visayas State University conducted two seminar-workshops in response to the President of the Philippines', Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III, Executive Order No. 80 series of 2012 directing all government employees to adopt the Performance-Based Incentive System.

The Technical Review Committee (TRC) members of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) evaluated on August 18, 2012 the VSU's Department of Development Communication (DDC). This is in relation to the application of DDC as Center of Excellence/Development (COE/D) for Development Communication.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) recently released the results of the September 2012 Geodetic Engineer Licensure Exam, the September 2012 Chemist Licensure Exam, the August 2012 Veterinarian Licensure Exam, the August 2012 Forester Licensure Exam, the July 2012 Agriculturist Licensure Exam, and the June 2012 Nursing Licensure Exam.

The Visayas State University (VSU) and the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in pursuit of the goals and objectives of the two institutions' rice R&D programs. Both parties agreed to collaborate extensively on rice research, training, communication, extension, and human resource development projects.

The Agriculture and Education Programs of the Visayas State University (VSU) with Level III Re-Accredited Status accorded by the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) were subjected for Level IV (Phase 1) Accreditation by the same accrediting agency. The AACCUP Accreditation Team evaluated the seven programs both in the Undergraduate and Graduate Levels of VSU's Agriculture and Education Programs on September 10-14, 2012.
