The College of Arts and Sciences through Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry (DoPAC) invites everyone to the 9th International Undergraduate Research Symposium on May 16-20 at the VSU Center for Continuing Education. Listening to the presentations and viewing of scientific posters are free. 

The 2016 Alumni Homecoming is around the corner! So, it’s Throwback Time!

Bring old pics from your college days, scanned on a short bond paper with batch year indicated at the back. On our Alumni Night, your pictures will be displayed so that everyone can look at “The way we were, down memory lane.” 

Each batch will have their photo collage. The batch collage that will garner the most number of star stamps (one stamp= one point) will receive a prize! Star stamps will be available during the Alumni Night.

Join the songwriting competition for agriculture, fisheries, and natural resources and win prizes:

Who may join:

• The competition is open to all amateur composers
• Entrants must be Filipino citizens or of Filipino descent
• There is no age requirement. However, minors joining the competition must be represented by a parent or guardian.

Mechanics:

• Song entries should deal with the subjects on promoting agriculture, fisheries and natural resources preservation and protection
• The song entry must be original, unreleased, and written in any of the following categories:

1. Pop
2. Country Ballad
3. R&B
4. Gospel/Inspirational
5. Folk/Acoustic
6. Jazz
7. Hip-hop/Rap
8. Novelty/Comedy

• A song may be entered in only one category. However, the Screening Committee may re-classify the entry to a more appropriate category.
• Contestants may submit 3 songs in any category. However, should more than one song from the same composer become a finalist in a particular category, the composer shall choose only one song as his/her final entry in that category.
• Song entries must not exceed 4 minutes in length
• Song lyrics may be in Cebuano, Tagalog, Waray or English and must not contain any vulgar or offensive language.
• All songs submitted will automatically become the property of both the VSU Extension Office and ATI-RTC8.
• Entry forms are available at the VSU Extension Office and the ATI-RTC-8.

The Senior High School (SHS) Voucher Program is re-opened by the Department of Education for completers of Grade 10 who would like to pursue SHS education in private schools, universities and colleges, state universities and colleges, and technical and vocational institutions offering SHS in SY 2016-2017. The program provides students with a subsidy that enables them to get a discount on the cost of tuition and other school fees for SHS.

All applications must be done strictly online. Applicants must fill-up the online application form and upload a scanned copy of all the following documents:

1. Colored ID picture (2x2)
2. Latest copy of the Grade 10 Report Card
3. Birth Certificate
4. Proof of financial capacity of the parents/guardian (any of the following):

• Latest Income Tax Return
• Certificate of Employment (stating position and monthly income)
• Certificate of Certification of Tax Exemption or Municipal Certification of Unemployment

Applications will be accepted until May 6, 2016 only. The deadline is non-extendable. Results will be announced on or before May 20, 2016.

Local and international companies are coming to VSU for the Jobs Fair at the VSU Gymnasium, April 15 from 8AM to 5PM. As of Friday last week, eight local and five overseas companies have signified to participate in the Jobs Fair. Staff from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration will also conduct a seminar on job-seeking and employment abroad.

The University Student Services Office (USSO) said there is no need to make reservations for the Fair but it will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Applicants should have mainly their resume and Transcript of Records ready.

Program of activities:

7:00-8:30    -  Registration of job seekers

8:31-9:00    -  Opening Program

                  -   Presentation of DOLE Personnel and participating agencies and employers

9:30-10:00  -   Pre-employment orientation seminar by Ms. Rose Jervoso, POEA

10:00-5:00  -   Jobs Fair (with lunch break)
