  1. Education: Licensed Civil Engineer with a Masters Degree
  2. Experience: One-year teaching experience/industry practice
  3. Training: None required
  4. Eligibility: valid PRC license as Civil Engineer
  5. Should possess the following competencies:
    1. Commitment—deep sense of responsibility to render service for the development of the students’ well-being and for the advancement of his/her discipline
    2. Knowledge of subjects—applicant’s scholarship and expertise in his/her field or discipline
    3. Teaching for independent learning—ability to organize teaching-learning processes to enable students to maximize their learning potentials
    4. Management of learning—ability to create and manage a conducive learning environment and at the same time guide, monitor, and evaluate student learning.

1  RESEARCHER

  • Wiling and able to work in remote locations and help coordinate arrangements, logistics for the team
  • Experience with implementing a participatory mapping approach and develop scaled land use maps with communities
  • Field experience with participatory rural appraisal (PRA)
  • Forestry research background (optional)
  • will be required to work part-time during weekends(3/4 days a week) between 08.08.2016   to 16.11.2016 and attend training workshop  (3 day training workshop, followed by 1-2 days field training to be in held in Leyte, Philippines for the second week of August)
  • must have strong interpersonal communication skills and being culturally sensitive e.g. skilled and willing to facilitate community group meetings
  • aware of good practices associated with a participatory rural appraisal (PRA) approach.
  • Data input and management experience

 

1 EXPERIENCED PRA TRAINER

  • The La ForeT forestry landscape project requires a qualified participatory rural appraisal (PRA) expert to assist in training and support for , a 3 day training workshop, followed by 1-2 days field training to be in held in Leyte, Philippines for the second week of August.
  • The trainer must have led participatory mapping approaches, developing scaled maps with communities to understand tenure, forest and land use and also experience with other PRA approaches i.e. Focus group discussions and tools used to elicit focused information.
  • The individual ideally should have a back ground in forestry research and have the skills to communicate with a team of interdisciplinary researchers on good practices of PRA practices in addition to willingness to advise and support on methods pre/test with a forest community. 

1 FIELD RESEARCHER

  • Ideally with experience of participatory rural appraisal (PRA) techniques (preferable but not essential as we aim to train this person)
  • Able to work in remote locations and help coordinate arrangements, logistics for the team
  • Available during proposed period 08.08.2016  to 16.11.2016
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills e.g. willing and capable to facilitate community group meetings
  • Preferably MSc. level, mature student with good communication skills
  • Responsible for data entry of PRA activities e.g. summary reports / maps,  etc.
