The VSU Culture and the Arts Center (CAC) paid a tribute to two of its staff members who just retired and about to retire in April 2013, and six graduating student-performers during the CAC Recognition Night on March 14, 2013 at the VSU Convention Center.

Some varsity athletes of the Visayas State University (VSU) who joined in the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) National Olympics 2013 held on February 17-24 at the Jose Rizal Memorial State College Sports Complex in Dapitan City garnered medals in their respective events.

The Visayas State University (VSU) has been awarded the "Tuklas Lunas Development Center (DOST-PCHRD Natural Substance Research Center) for Visayas" by the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD). The award was received by Dr. Jose L. Bacusmo, VSU President, and Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin, VP for Planning and Resource Generation, during the 31st PCHRD Anniversary on March 18, 2013 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza, Manila.

Dr. Angel C. Alcala, former chairman of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), erstwhile Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and now Professor Emeritus of Silliman University, served as guest speaker during the 2013 VSU Honors and Awards Convocation in the afternoon of March 5 at the VSU Gymnatorium.

A total of seventy-one (71) graduating students, of whom 8 are Magna Cum Laude and 63 Cum Laude in the different degree programs of the Visayas State University, will be receiving medals of Latin honors during the 60th VSU Collegiate Commencement Exercises in the morning of April 5, 2013 at the VSU Gymnatorium.

The Visayas State University (VSU) gave recognition to the 551 honor students (both in the undergraduate and graduate levels) and 24 individual and organization awardees during the 2013 Honors and Awards Convocation Program on March 5 at the VSU Gymnatorium.

Mr. Dominic L. Petilla, a businessman and a brother of Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho L. Petilla, is the guest of honor and speaker during the 60th VSU Commencement Exercises in the morning of April 5, 2013 at the VSU Gymnatorium.
