The littlest of things can make the biggest of differences.

Such is the work of Dr. Rodney Perez, an alumnus of Visayas State University, on bacteriocins, little microorganisms invisible to the human eye that are commonly used as safe food preservatives in lieu of synthetic chemical ones in first-world countries.

If one were to briefly retell the story of the newly appointed Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz, it would be best done through the words of the author Matshona Dhliwayo.

Visayas State University is one with the Commission on Higher Education, under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. J. Prospero E. De Vera III, in its efforts and vision on flexible learning.

This is the mantra of 23-year-old Allen Glen C. Gil, a fresh graduate of VSU who is now serving as the youngest faculty member of the Department of Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering (DABE).

Mr. Gil was recently awarded as the Most Outstanding Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Student for 2020 dubbed as the Young Maramba Award.
