VSU alumna Reiofeli Salas recently earned the Outstanding PhD Student award from the Southern Weed Science Society (SWSS). Salas is one of the 11 graduate students of the University of Arkansas (U of A) who were recognized during the 16th Annual Meeting of the SWSS/Weed Science Society of America in San Juan, Puerto Rico, February 8-11.

Bernardo H. Tocmo, a 1982 BS in Agribusiness graduate of VSU, then Visayas State College of Agriculture, who is currently Executive Vice President and Head of the Philippine National Bank (PNB) Retail Banking Group, will be this year’s Commencement Speaker.

VSU entered into an agreement with NatureLife-International in Germany for carbon emissions trading making the university the first in the Visayas to institutionalize carbon dioxide compensation.

VSU’s Institute of Human Kinetics offers a summer recreation program this year for six year-olds and above.

Dr. Manuel T. Corpus, executive director of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP), named VSU as a model state university in the country after the Level IV Phase 2 evaluation of eight academic programs, March 16-18.
