After two assessments that saw a decline in VSU’s Webometrics performance, the university has climbed up again and returned to the Top 20 web ranking of Philippine universities.
VSU was up by eight notches in the July 2021 assessment from 27th to 19th spot—just one step close to its highest Webometrics ranking in January 2020.

The Institutes for Research, Innovation and Scholarship (IRIS), an emerging research and innovation think-tank in the Philippines, places VSU within the top 20 best universities in the country in terms of research productivity.
VSU was named top 12 in both science and engineering, and top 15 in health. It is the only university in Eastern Visayas to make it to the top 50 list.

Before his retirement to public service in February next year, Dr. Roberto C. Guarte wants a new leadership in the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) to be formally installed to make way for an orderly and effective transfer of power.
Dr. Guarte turns over the Deanship to Dr. Jannet C. Bencurre, the current Head of the Department of Geodetic Engineering (DGE).
