This is the mantra of 23-year-old Allen Glen C. Gil, a fresh graduate of VSU who is now serving as the youngest faculty member of the Department of Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering (DABE).

Mr. Gil was recently awarded as the Most Outstanding Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Student for 2020 dubbed as the Young Maramba Award.

The littlest of things can make the biggest of differences.

Such is the work of Dr. Rodney Perez, an alumnus of Visayas State University, on bacteriocins, little microorganisms invisible to the human eye that are commonly used as safe food preservatives in lieu of synthetic chemical ones in first-world countries.

Farming and fishing are professions that require endurance—endurance that only our farmers and fisherfolk know.

VSU recognizes the role they play in bringing foods to our tables. And it is only right for their dedication to be acknowledged, to let them reap the rewards of their hard work.
