Visayas State University (VSU) registered a passing average of 100% in the recently concluded February 2019 Mechanical Engineering Licensure Exam, as released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), February 28, Thursday.

Visayas State University, true to its thrust as a research academe, recently launched the first Food Testing Laboratory in Eastern Visayas.

VSU President Edgardo E. Tulin is among the recipients of the 2019 Ten Outstanding Movers of the Philippines (TOMP), Champion of Life and Hero of the Environment Award. Dr. Tulin qualified for this award after being nominated by another state university President outside of Eastern Visayas.

The Philippine Commission on Women has certified Baybay City’s Barangay Management Information System (BMIS) as the first Gender and Development-Local Learning Hub (GAD-LLH) for CY 2019-2022 to implement the barangay-based sex-disaggregated data (SDD). Baybay City is the first LGU to receive the certification in Region 8 on March 8, 2019 at PICC, Manila.

Forestry students of Visayas State University bagged the first place in the Tree Measurement Category during the 13th National Forestry Olympiad (NFO) held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños from February 18 to 22, 2019.

To promote advancement in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology in the country, the Philippine Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (PSBMB) - Visayas Chapter hosted its 2nd Regional Symposium on February 21-22, 2019 at the Visayas State University Convention Center.
