The annual Flower and Garden Show (FGS) formally signaled the opening of the week-long celebration of VSU’s 95th founding anniversary, as it was formally opened on April 22, Monday.

VSU Vice President for Research and Extension Dr. Othello B. Capuno was recently recognized by the National Seed Industry Council (NSIC) for his invaluable support and contribution to the implementation of the Seed Industry Development Act of 1992 as chairman (2000-2010) and member of the council’s technical working group for 22 years.

Gravela O. Rele, a former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) turned farmer-businesswoman is VSU’s UGMAD Outstanding Farmer Entrepreneur awardee for 2019. The award is the highest recognition given by Visayas State University (VSU) to a farmer during the annual Farmers’ and Fisherfolks’ Day celebration.

Visayas State University, through its newly established Department of Meteorology and in partnership with WeatherPhilippines Foundation Inc., hosted the Youth Conference on Weather and Climate held at the VSU Convention Center on April 26, 2019, as one of the highlights of the week-long 95th anniversary celebration.

The annual art exhibit formally opened on April 22, 2019 at the Balay Alumni in celebration of VSU’s 95th founding anniversary, following the formal opening of the Flower and Garden Show.

College of Nursing’s (CoN) Erwin Thomas Dorego and College of Engineering’s (CoE) Carmela Rustia were hailed as the Mr. and Ms. VSU 2019 during the coronation night held at the Visayas State University Gymnatorium on April 25, 2019, Wednesday.
